John. Please keep a moment of prayer or silence today, or at least somehow hold
him in your memory.

Sad news.

John Reeves "Overcode" Hall passed away last night (September 17th, 2005).
He had been battling cancer for the past year.  You might remember him
from PhreakNIC or Interzone conferences, around 3 years ago, or with
the YAK crowd at defcon one year ago.

John graduated from Tech 2 or 3 years ago, and has been living in or near
Santa Monica, California, since then, but many will probably remember
him from the Linux Users Group, PsiU's LAN parties, hacker conferences
(I first met him at a PhreakNIC), and just hanging out with friends.

John was not only one of the brightest young programmers I've ever known,
he was also a very dedicated friend. He would go far beyond the call of
duty to help his friends. John and I still had many plans we were going
to work on together. Even as he battled cancer, you can tell from his
War blog what an incredible person he was.
